Let me tell you about a conversation that happened in a boardroom somewhere in Stockholm last year.
A CFO slides a report across the table.
The report says the company, a fintech company you have heard of, handled the equivalent of 700 customer service agents worth of work with 15 people.
The executives look at the numbers, they look at each other, then one of them asks the question nobody wanted to say out loud.
So what do we do with the other 685?
That company was Klarna.
And that question is now sitting in the middle of every business meeting, hiring plan, and org chart in the world.
It is not just being asked in Stockholm, it is being asked in San Francisco, Austin, Phoenix, and inside the garage of a bootstrapped founder who has not slept properly in six months.
And the people asking it are not the ones getting replaced.
The people getting replaced are the ones who never thought to ask it.
What does it mean to be a builder?
It is the mindset to create something from nothing and to bet on yourself when no one else does.

There is a word that keeps showing up in the data.
Agentic, not AI, not automation, not chatbots, not the stuff that writes, captions, or summarizes emails.
Agentic as an AI that does not wait to be asked, AI that picks a target, maps the work, and keeps moving until the job is done.
It runs the play, evaluates what worked, adjusts what did not, and comes back ready for the next one.
AI that never schedules a meeting to talk about scheduling a meeting.
In Q1 of 2026 alone, Venture Capital put $4.
2 billion into agenc workflow startups, three times the money invested in Q1 of 2025.
OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft all pushed agentic systems forward, making multi-step AI workflows more practical for businesses.
Fortune 500 earnings calls started using the term agentic workforce everywhere.
In 2026, it appeared in over 60% of them.
In 2024, that number was 12%.
This is not a trend.
It is a power shift.
Most people are standing on the beach taking pictures of the wave.
Builders are already building boats.
Here is what middle management actually is when you strip away the titles, org charts, and LinkedIn endorsements.
It is a layer of coordination.
Middle managers exist or existed to take information from the top, translate it into tasks, distribute those tasks, collect results, synthesize those results, and report back up.
They are human routers.
Expensive, emotional, politically complicated human routers.
I am not being cruel.
I am being accurate.
And I say this as someone who has been that layer.
I have sat in those meetings and forwarded email chains that should have been one-line Slack messages.
The problem is not that those people are lazy or incompetent.
The problem is that coordination, translation, distribution, and synthesis are exactly what agentic AI does.
Faster, cheaper, at scale, without ego.
They deployed agentic AI systems and replaced the functional output of 700 customer service roles.
Duolingo made similar moves, restructuring content and operations around AI systems that generate, test, and iterate faster than traditional teams.
But this is not just a big company story.
The same technology, letting Clarno replace 700 roles, is letting a solo founder, small operator, or two-person team build a business that operates like it has 50 people.
Right now, bootstrapped founders are running sales, onboarding, reporting, content, project management, and client communication through agency systems.
Two people, 10 person output, sometimes more.
That is not a productivity hack.
That is a structural rebellion against the way business has always worked.
For decades, scale required headcount.
Headcount required capital.
Capital required investors.
Investors required equity.
Equity required giving up control.
And when you gave up control, the thing you built slowly stopped being yours.

I want to get specific because too many AI conversations sound like magic.
I learned this the hard way.
About two years ago, I was running a content operation that was drowning me.
Too many moving parts, too many handoffs, too many places where something could fall through the cracks.
So I hired a coordinator, smart person, good person, not the problem.
The problem was that I hired a human being to be a system, and a human being is not a system.
I was asking someone to absorb the chaos of a broken operation through willpower.
That is not a job.
That is a punishment.
When I finally mapped what I actually needed, I realized maybe 80% of the role was repeatable, definable, automatable process.
I had spent eight months and a lot of money putting a person in the middle of a machine I had not built yet.
That one hurt.
But it is also why I can tell you exactly what to build.
Imagine you run a small construction firm, you have a project pipeline, subcontractors to coordinate, permits to track, client updates to send, invoices to chase, and a marketing presence you never have time to maintain.
In the old model, you hire people to handle each lane, or you do it all yourself and slowly lose your mind.
In the agentic model, you build systems.
You deploy an agent that monitors your project pipeline, pulls updates, and drafts weekly client status reports.
You deploy an agent that tracks permit timelines, flags delays, and drafts follow-up communications.
You deploy an agent that monitors overdue invoices and sends professional follow-up sequences.
You deploy an agent that takes job site photos, writes project updates and schedules, social content that sounds like you because you trained it on your voice.
None of this requires a software engineering degree.
None of this requires a $100,000 tech budget.
It requires understanding tools like AutoGen, Claude, GPT-40 operator mode, Zapier's AI layers, and make dot com's workflows, then building the system instead of hiring someone to be the system.
That is the shift.
You stop hiring people to do things and start building systems that handle things.
And here's the truth: most people do not want to hear.
The barrier is not technical skill, it is not money, it is not access, it is mindset.
Employees optimize their role, builders design the system.
These tools can reason through complex problems, take actions across platforms, and work in teams.
One agent researches, one writes, one reviews, one publishes.
You built the content department.
You just did not hire anyone.
This is not science fiction.
This is Q2 of 2026.
This is available right now to anyone willing to build.
You do not need permission to build a machine.
You just need to start.
Now I want to be real about the choice in front of every person listening.
There are two paths.
Path one, you watch this happen, you read the articles, you nod along, you tell yourself you will figure it out once it becomes clearer.
You wait for someone to hand you a roadmap.
Meanwhile, businesses built by people who did not wait start eating your market share.
They respond faster, deliver more consistently, and seem to have more capacity than you do.
One day you realize you are not just behind the curve, you are being managed by it.
Because if you are not deploying agentic systems in your business, you will eventually operate inside someone else's agentix system.
You will be the subcontractor in someone else's automated supply chain, the vendor in someone else's AI managed procurement process, the human in the loop for someone else's workflow, you will be the node, not the network.
Path two, you build, you get uncomfortable, you spend a weekend breaking things and figuring out how the tools work.
You build a bad first agent that does 40% of what you wanted, then you fix it, you talk to other builders, you iterate, you deploy something that saves you five hours a week, then you use those five hours to build something that saves you 10 more.
Six months from now, you are operating at a level of output and consistency.
Your competitors cannot explain and cannot match.
You become the network.
This is builders' creed.
This is what we mean when we say building is an act of rebellion.
The old system built on headcount, hierarchy, gatekeeping, and that is not how it works, is counting on you to stay in your lane.
Hire the coordinator, pay the consultant, wait for permission.
The rebellion is refusing.
The rebellion is a two-person team generating the output of 10 because they bet on themselves, the tools and their willingness to figure it out.
Better, leaner, faster, with more control than the old model ever allowed.
Now I know some of you are thinking, what if I am not technical?
What if I do not know how to build agents?
What if I am already behind?
Here is what I want you to understand.
Every tool we talked about has documentation, tutorials, and communities of builders who were exactly where you are six months ago.
The learning curve is real, the discomfort is real, but it is not a wall, it is a door.
The people who walked through it are not exceptional.
They are not geniuses, they are builders.
Building is a choice.
The question is not whether you are capable of this, you are.
The question is whether you are willing to stop waiting for it to be easier and start building while it is hard, because it will get easier.
But by the time it is easy, the advantage is gone.
The window is now.
Here is where we land.
Agentic AI is not coming for your job.
It is not coming for your business.
It is not some external force that happens to you.
It is a tool, the most powerful coordination and execution tool ever available to a small operator.
And like every tool, it rewards the people who pick it up and punishes the people who leave it on the table.
The middle management layer is dissolving the coordination function, the thing that used to require headcount and hierarchy is being absorbed into systems you can build, own, and run yourself.
That is not a threat.
That is the greatest transfer of operational power to independent builders that has ever happened.
Klarna did it at scale.
You can do it in your garage, your back office, or the six hours between sleep and the next job site.
The old guard built walls to keep you out, headcount requirements, capital barriers, credentialing.
You need a team to do that.
You need funding to scale.
You need to be bigger before anyone takes you seriously.
Agenic AI does not care about any of that.
It just runs the play you designed.
So design the play, build the system, refuse to be the node when you could be the network.
